Zebra approaches casually. -I hope you're not surprised! it replies. -This has happened to me before.
Okapi giggles and drops a small book on the floor next to him. -You don't lack self-confidence, but that's nothing new.
-Who was it about? Zebra wants to know.
-I can't tell you that, of course, because it's confidential. What I may tell you though is that you appeared at a power animal journey and passed on your current knowledge about a question. And that the person was very enthusiastic.
Zebra smiles flattered. -What did you expect?
-But then the person told me about trying to research whether zebra fur is really as pleasant as it seemed to be in this meditative journey. And now watch out: if you type in the question, "Is the fur of zebras soft?" you will first get descriptions of how furriers deal with making beautiful rugs out of zebra fur or immediately offers where you can order such skins.
Zebra takes a step back in concern, followed by a discarding head movement.
-After all, there are also offers for imitation zebra fur, Okapi adds soothingly. -But isn't that incredible? The question is aimed at something completely different. Is it really all about consumption, usability and making things available? Somehow one gets the impression that consumers once again want to adorn themselves with other people's feathers.
Zebra nods. -But if it's all about consumption, the inner emptiness must be significant - something always has to be refilled. Mainly food and entertainment of various kinds. Some may be harmless, some are definitely not. I only say trophy collecting.
-That's true, unfortunately. But maybe trying to connect with a power animal can have positive effects? If you consider this animal as a powerful and wise being that has unique qualities and knowledge?
-I'm not sure, Zebra interjects. If it's just animals as symbols of human behavior again, that doesn't do anything in terms of dealing with the living world.
-Yes, but it could still be a door opener. I read something interesting, pay attention (picks up the booklet that has been lying on the floor and reads) -"Connecting with a power animal can deepen appreciation for the natural world and foster a sense of connection. Engaging in practices that cultivate respect, empathy, and reverence for animals, such as trance techniques, can indirectly influence behavior toward real animals. Developing a greater awareness of the sacredness of all life and a deeper understanding of the interdependence of humans and nature can enhance a more compassionate and considerate attitude toward animals."
-And how can it be explained that people are drawn to finding their power animal even if they don't have a close connection to animals in their daily lives? Does your clever book know anything about this? Zebra wants to know, slightly irritated.
Okapi turns the pages with a concentrated expression. -Yes, here! "The attraction of searching for a power animal can be traced back to several factors: first, regardless of daily contact with animals, humans possess an innate connection to nature. Second, deep within, there is often a longing to reconnect with the natural world and its various inhabitants:within. Finding a power animal allows one to pick up on this primal connection and establish a spiritual connection with the animal kingdom."
-That sounds good, Zebra says conciliatorily. -So be it.
-And so it is!" Okapi answers and closes the book.
